Office Procedures
Urodynamics
This is a test which is done in the office to determine the cause of urinary incontinence, which is the involuntary loss of urine associated with certain physical activities such as coughing, sneezing, laughing, dancing, gardening or bending. There are two main kinds of urinary incontinence. Some women have both.
Stress incontinence occurs when you sneeze, cough, laugh, jog, or do other things that put pressure on your bladder. It is the most common type of bladder control problem in women.
Urge incontinence happens when you have a strong need to urinate but can’t reach the toilet in time. This can happen even when your bladder is holding only a small amount of urine. Some women may have no warning before they accidentally leak urine. Other women may leak urine when they drink water or when they hear or touch running water. Overactive bladder is a kind of urge incontinence. But not everyone with overactive bladder leaks urine.
Endometrial Ablations
Endometrial ablation is a procedure that destroys (ablates) the uterine lining, or endometrium. This procedure is used to treat irregular menses or abnormal uterine bleeding. Hysteroscopyis used to see inside the uterus and is usually performed in conjunction with an ablation. Endometrial ablation may be done in the hospital, a surgical center or your doctor’s office. The procedure may be done using a local, spinal anesthesia or general anesthesia.
